Youth-in-Focus: Justin Milbourn

This is Justin holding up the car he got for his 16th birthday! The great part is that it doesn't take gas, all you have to do is wind the wheels up and it will take off. Congratulations to Justin who turns 16 on June 11. Thanks to his parents for throwing a great party and feeding the youth group.

Justin is a lifelong member of the UPC of Highland Village and he's always called Bloomington home. Right now he's enjoying the summer off though he does help his father mow lawns [he's a pretty hard-working guy]. This fall he will be going back to Bloomington South as a sophomore though he doubtless has June 2010 [graduation] already on his mind. When he "grows up" he wants to run heavy equipment--we assume he means big cranes and the like. And his favorite color is blue.

Justin enjoys many things but mostly hanging with friends, playing Playstation, shooting airsoft, and shooting hoops at the YMCA. He's hoping soon to be spending some of his time having fun on the road [we'll pray for him and his parents].

Here's a little clip of the good time we had with Justin & friends:

Youth-in-Focus: Naomi Ridenour

My name is Naomi Ridenour. I will be 19 years old on January 21st. I currently work at Joann Fabrics, doing all sorts of different tasks (cutting fabric, running the cash register, etc.). I attend Edgewood High School & will be graduating in May of this year. I plan to attend the University of Indianapolis majoring in either nursing or Pre-Med. I know I want to be in the medical field, but I’m not sure if nursing is right for me; I might be headed more towards the business aspect of it. I have all sorts of hobbies. I enjoy many outdoor activities, including; camping, hiking & 4-wheeling. I enjoy traveling & learning about history; I really like to visit historical sites (call me a nerd). A few other hobbies of mine are shopping, eating & just hanging out in general. I love to have fun! I appreciate music of most kind, but I especially enjoy Country and Christian music. My favorite bands are Mercy Me, Casting Crowns, Rascal Flatts, etc.

My goals for pursuing God are simple. I try to focus on Him, nothing else. People often get side-tracked and lose sight of their goals. I try not to let things in the world get a hold of me because I know, if I do, I will lose sight of Him & be pulled down by the things of this world. If I could serve God in any way, I would be a soul winner (and be a strong one at that). Being a soul winner isn’t always easy, but with time & patience, I would love to fill the church pews with sinners. I know I have to work at it and it’s not going to happen right away, but through prayer & fasting, God can do anything! Sometimes it’s hard to balance my walk with God with my ordinary life, but I stand my ground and surround myself with Godly people that love the truth. It’s hard to be around people who have no idea who God is--a lot of times people question God to me. But as long as I stay strong and show those people that He is all we need in life, and show them that I will do everything through Him and for Him, then it’s easy. I can still have fun with it; I just have to stay prayerful! I try to keep Him first in all I do. And I pray, through me, other people can see how great He is and how much fun living for God really can be!

Here’s something fun & unusual about me: If I were hosting a dinner party and had to invite three deceased famous people I would invite; Marilyn Monroe because she has great quotes that everyone loves. I would also like to ask her how she really died. The next person I would invite is Walt Disney. I would ask him if I could visit Disney World any time for free and if he could cut me a deal so I can get married in Cinderella’s castle some day! Finally, I would invite Gianni Versace so he could design some things for me!

If I could be any superhero I would be Batman’s sidekick, Bat Woman, only because Brent would want to be Batman!

Some things that most people do not know about me are that I’m very nice and giving and have tons of ideas. I love cows and I’m a little smart--not a lot, just a little. I loveeeee chocolate and Starbucks and Charlotte Rouse and big sunglasses and purses... well you get the idea!
